No two people we meet in life are the same. One needs to deal with people in the right manner, not just to maintain relationships, but also for your own benefit at times.

If you know of someone in your workplace who is no different than the grumpy dwarf from Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, it is possible to deal with the person. If someone is constantly annoying you with his/her mood swings and tantrums, there is lots you can do to ignore the person and still remain in his/her good books.

Don't be defensive:
Respect him/her and make sure he/she respects you too. Some people have issues with life which are portrayed to others by their temperament, and the more you understand that, the better you will deal with it.

Always set the right boundaries:
Create healthy boundaries whenever you have to cross paths with such colleagues. You do not want to be unfair to them just because of the way they are. They might say things without giving it a second thought. Don't take it personally.

Don't be a gossip monger:
Your co-worker might be a real difficult person to deal with. Don't gossip about him/her or talk behind his/her back. You just might add to the negativity at the workplace. Your coworker might get to know that you have been gossiping about him/her which could cause even more friction.

Keep a check on yourself:
Don't let the bad mood of a colleague affect you and also make sure you don't react weirdly in the presence of this colleague. While approaching the person, stay calm and while you talk it out, make sure you do not upset the person or act on an impulse. Such behaviour might just make it worse.

Ask if you can be of any help:
Try talking to the person. You could have coffee or even lunch together. It could help make the person feel better. Sometimes a conversation can sort issues.
