Creation by Charu Parashar.jpgCharu Parashar:  Charu brought a lot of freshness to the ramp with her collection 'The Modernist' that mainly comprised short dresses, skirts, tunics and flowy dresses.

It was a burst of pink on the ramp all the way teamed with black as models strolled down in bright pink ensembles teamed suitably with black stocking and ugg boots to complete the autumn-winter look. Model Tinu looked stylish in a short pink number which she coordinated well with aviator glasses. "I used a lot of black swarovski in the outfits to give it a stylish edge," said designer Charu Parashar after the show. Of the pinks, the short frilly crinkled pink skirt worn over netted top with applique work was a show-stealer. Slowly and subtly, the pinks gave way to sapling green, by throwing open an interesting range of long chiffon dresses with black motifs. Charu did a particularly good job of the skirts, they were chic yet wearable and every girl would love to wear one in the winter over black stockings and boots. The green finally faded into sunset yellow and then too the silhouettes and fabrics looked exquisite. There were a few black and whites too in the end but none of any note. For Charu, the collection stood out purely for its pinks.

Preeti Chandra: In a tribute to Lady Diana, designer Preeti Chandra christened her collection 'Memoirs of a Princess'. She attempted to take us back in time to the splendours of the court where kings and queens and beautiful princess lived, but unfortunately without much success. The collection was predominantly made up of drapes in silks, crepes, chamois and fabrics like organza and delicate lace. The colours used were strong and vibrant...a scarlet red, majestic purple, a royal navy, emerald green, blacks with soft colours like ivory and beige. Said Preeti, "If fashion is about today, it is time to go back to elegance. We are the result of our culture and heritage and today's woman is someone with character, who seeks elegance and glamour."

Silhouettes reminscent of a past era, one could spot calf-length dresses clinched at the waist with a stylish cumber-bandh, voluminous skirts, cigarette pants worn over butler jackets, one-shoulder dresses and gowns with a sweeping trail. We didn't miss out the use of lace, feathers and flowers in the entire range. Model Indrani Dasgupta opened the show in a sheer stretch lace black dress with a bejewelled velvet kamarband belt coordinated well with drunk red suede stilettoes. Even Nolana looked elegant in a burgundy jumpsuit in silk lycra. There were some interesting gowns in ivory and cream, though the ensembles in black didn't quite make a mark.
