"Whats Haute", a fashion quiz that made its successful debut at last season's Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW), returns for the autumn/winter edition beginning Wednesday. It will again be hosted by cricket commentator and avid quizzer Gautam Bhimani, who says the show will be informative and invigorating, but not intimidating .
"Fun plus fashion is equal to 'Whats Haute'. A simple formula that helped the first edition of the fashion quiz succeed. This time around, it will be as much of a blast," said Bhimani.
The fashion quiz will be held at the WIFW Pragati Maidan venue from 2.30 p.m.-3 p.m. and Bhimani feels it is not merely a competition but an amalgamation of fun and excitement.
"The fashion quiz added to the zing of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) last season. With a lot of serious fashion on the ramp, this event was a welcome distraction and a chance for members of the fashion fraternity to let their hair down. This time also it is expected to be informative and invigorating, but not intimidating," said Bhimani.
Asked how the idea of a fashion quiz came into being, he said: "I am an avid quizzer and attended and conducted quizzes in every walk of life - from sports, to business, wildlife to music and movies."
"I realised that something as glamorous as fashion does not have a regular quiz. Hence I popped the question to Mr. Sethi (Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) president Sunil Sethi) and there it was!
"Fashion deserves to have many such quizzes because of the nature of the subject - lots of history to dig out facts, potential visual and video questions and of course trends evolving in the fashion world that make for great question matter," Bhimani told.
In the quiz, six to eight teams will participate and each team will have two members, one from fashion media and other from fashion fraternity.
"This quiz is by invitation to designers and fashion journalists and others closely involved in the industry. Once the numbers start going up, we will have a written elimination on the spot like in other quizzes," he said.
Winners will get extravagant prizes. In the previous season, the winners received designer carpets from Sethi's Design Alliance's Floored by Art series.
"The fashion quiz promises to be an exhilarating event that sees participants putting their fashion quotient to the test. The quiz is both fun and interactive. Given the uniqueness of its format, the quiz has emerged as a much talked about event enjoying an unrivalled fan base. Complementing this vivacity, the WIFW Autumn/Winter 2011 is beset with many such wondrous surprises up its sleeve," said Sethi.
