Hinze left her role on television's Project Runway Australia to focus on pursuits not fashion-related.
The Gold Coast export a member of the American board for the Australian Wildlife Conservancy and an ambassador for the Protect our Coral Sea campaign is passionate about protecting and preserving the world's ecology.
Despite splitting her time between Miami and New York since marrying Netscape founder Jim Clark in 2009, Hinze has not forgotten her grassroots.
"I try to come home four times a year," she told InStyle magazine.
"Australia is the most beautiful country in the world and I am passionate about it's conservation.
"We are losing an enormous amount of native wildlife, so it's more important than ever to make people aware that this is what makes us a unique country."
